Our co-founder, Adisa Vaughn was admitted to the hospital a couple days ago and will be undergoing surgery again in the upcoming days. Unfortunately, we don't have the people power to continue offering all of our Community Programs (Dads Read, Dads of Monterey County, Family Cycling Workshops, Family Rides, Community Movement for Mobility Justice, Multimedia Recommendations & Critiques, Community Paint Parties, Bike Kits & Clinics, Radical Momming, etc.) in his absence.
However, we would like to be able to continue making our Balance Bike Clinics available and could really use the financial (and volunteer) support to help make this a possibility, as all of our Community Programs are funded out-of-pocket by us.
If you're able to invest in FoCMC and support our efforts to center the needs of families of color and develop equitable access to resources through advocacy, education, and community building we accept check, cash, and/or money order. Please make payments to: "Families of Color Monterey County". You can also donate via PayPal.
And if you're able to give your time and energy, please send us a message and let us know how you'd like to help.
We host year-round Balance Bike Clinics open to all families. Register for a clinic and come learn how to ride a bike without using training wheels! Balance bikes are the ideal partner to introduce your young child to the concept of two wheels. Due to the extremely low step-through entry point and the high cockpit, little ones can enjoy two wheels as soon as they can start walking.
